These are 13 (and counting) cloisonne-inspired Package Illustrations for Celestial Seasonings line of Green Teas. Each product needed an Asian-themed animal partially made out of tea. Marketing's plan was for their customers to be able to improve word-of-mouth by helping their customer identify it by the animal first.
"You have to try their Dragon tea. It has beautiful Dragon on it. Try the Fish tea if you want decaf."
"Honey, please pick up some more of that Horse Tea."
The concept and campaign were an incredible success. To this day, Echo meets people at galleries and events to exclaim "I collect those!" or "I bought them for the art and now I drink it every day!" There is no higher praise than that.
